To complement our new Legend Series of 2 1/2" scale locomotives, RMI now offers a line 3' narrow gauge freight cars and cabooses. Our boxcars, reefers, and stock cars feature steel bases, steel internal body bracing, laser cut marine plywood substructures, and newly developed, custom milled, hardwood timbers and tongue & groove planking.

All doors have a steel core to minimize warping and are suspended from ball-bearing rollers. The highly ornate lettering and hardware found on turn-of-the-century (20th that is) rolling stock are faithfully reproduced. All cars have removable tops and can have optional fold down seats. Combine these new offerings with our broad range of flats and gondolas and our 5 very popular caboose models, and you can assemble many truly impressive narrow gauge trains.

Roll Models produces two distinct styles of rolling stock: simple, 4-wheel narrow gauge cars and more sophisticated, 2-truck passenger cars. The sturdy 4-wheel family features cold formed, curved channel frame rails, solid rivet and bolted construction, wheels cast in ductile iron, and free-running, sealed ball bearings. Flat cars come with or without oak decking in several lengths. In addition, RMI manufactures side tipping ore cars, spray cars for weed control, and tank cars. All are offered as kits or as ready-to-run units in numerous powder coated colors. We also offer a plain car base as a starting point for your personal creation.

Our second family of cars focuses on passenger operations. The first, and simplest, is a series of 2-truck flat cars featuring oak decks over our smooth riding, equalized trucks. Built in 5', 6', 7' and 8' lengths, these cars come as powder coated, ready to run units, or in kit form.

For those wishing the ultimate in passenger luxury, we offer non-powered versions of our Gaslight and Main Street trolleys. These magnificent coaches are the fitting compliment to any large-scale locomotive. Produced with fashionable flexibility in mind, the cars can operate as traditional covered coaches, open-air excursions cars, or “convertibles”. As heavy-duty haulers for public run days or as the ultimate personal salon car, the classic cars cannot be surpassed.
