RMI Battery Gauge Replacement

Over the years electronics have improved, leaving some of the parts that we have used in the past no longer available. This is true with the Battery Gauge used in our electric locomotive controllers. Some of these older gauges have failed and need replacing. If you find yourself needing to replace the voltage gauge in your controller, then this is the part and instructions on how to install the a new one.

First thing to do is remove the older one. Be careful not to brake any of the wires around the old unit during this process. The old unit should have had three wires, Red, Black, and Orange. The new unit will have only two wires, Red and Black. You will be attaching the new black wire to the same place that you removed the old black wire from or any convent ground location. The red wire, thru the attached load resister will be connected to the POWER ON switch, not the hot side, or any point that the on switch feeds.

Ground input wires are thew Black and Black with Red Stripe.

Hot input wires are the Red and Red with Black Stripe.
