45-100 Ton 2-truck locomotives were used for the heaviest industrial switching applications. They are still occasionally encountered in local service. Our 65 Ton 2-truck center cab switcher is typical of this handsome class of motive power. RMI produces this locomotive in an electric drive configuration using 2ea. 5/8 HP electric motors and side rod drive. At a weight of up to 530 pounds with batteries, this locomotive is a very powerful puller.

RMI Gas Hydraulic 65 Tonner with side rods 01/20/2025

I have owned the 65 Tonner gas Hydraulic locomotive for over 20 years. I have a private railroad but take the 65 Tonner to run on various private and public pikes around the western 2/3 of the U.S. I have added detail to the basic model, and it has performed all these years without any major problems. Quite a durable and reliable locomotive. My only complaint is the early use of the paint the model came with while retaining colors it's the paint has not sticked to the body or the frame and is peeking off.
