RMI's Side Dump Car is based on cars produced by Kilbourne-Jacobs of Columbus, Ohio during the early part of the 20th century. Like the originals, these cars are all steel. The curved main frames are formed channel in specifically designed dies. The car and dump bin are assembled with individually bucked solid steel rivets. Nuts and bolts are used on the frame and undercarriage per the prototype, but, totally unlike the prototype, these cars roll effortlessly on genuine SKF ball bearings. These side-dump cars are fully functional and can be used exactly as their big brothers were.
