In 1925, 300-H.P. Alco-GE-Ingersoll-Rand Box-Cab Switchers, the first successful diesel-electric locomotives sold in the United States, first found employment on the Central of New Jersey, the Baltimore and Ohio, and the Lehigh Valley Railroads. All had long, successful careers.

The CNJ 1000 remained in service until 1957, and now resides in the B&O museum in Baltimore, Md.

RMI’s model of the CNJ 1000 is assembled with over 1200 individual, solid steel rivets. These units show all the features that made these locomotives unique: twin convection cooled radiators, sand box fillers, twin exhaust stacks, and even flag stanchions. Powered with twin RMI motors and gearboxes, and 4-golf-cart batteris, these locos have tremendous pulling power and long operating cycles. An earth shaking RMI Premium Sound System is standard on this top-of-the-line masterpiece
