ton 0-4-0's and 0-6-0's were typically the heaviest switchers
built on a rigid frame. They were equally at home in steel mills,
industrial plants, terminal service, and lumber yards. Although
many people identify the center-cab configuration as typically
European, this is not at all true. Center-cab locomotives have
been built and used in large numbers in the United States since
the earliest days of internal combustion, engine powered locomotives. |
